Library District Population Increases by 500 Percent

Did you know that the population of Plainfield has grown more than 500 percent since 1990? Back when the Library first moved to its location on Illinois St., there were 14,123 people living in the Library’s district, with only five schools. Today, the Library’s district encompasses 75,337 people, with 30 schools. While the population was ballooning, the Library began to outgrow its building. Today, an expansion is needed in order to meet the needs of its growing district and to keep up with other 21st century libraries.
