The project is seeking an Illinois author with a self-published adult fiction book that libraries can help to make “famous.” Last year's winner, Joanne Zienty, has spoken at dozens of Illinois libraries as well as given several interviews to big name newspapers, local radio stations, magazines and more.

Holiday Lights Recycling

The Library is partnering for the third year in a row, with Elgin Recycling, to offer holiday lights recycling! As you start your winter decorating, you are bound to come across lights that no longer work; now you can be green and recycle them, earning funds for the Library to offer other green programs and events. Over the past two years, the community has recycled over 4,000 pounds in lights, earning the Library over $700 toward future green events.

The Holiday Lights recycling bins have been located this year in the Library's Route 59 parking lot, next to the paper recycling bins, for your convenience, so you can donate at any time, not just during the Library's open hours. Please do not leave lights in front of the building or in the book returns. Collection continues through 2/22/15.
