Library Foundation

The Plainfield Public Library Foundation formed in 1997. It primarily solicits endowments, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and sponsors community fundraising events for the Library. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.

Donations made to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Plainfield Public Library Foundation is administered by a volunteer board, which minimizes overhead and administrative costs and allows the library to receive the maximum benefit from each donation.
The Plainfield Public Library Foundation board has chosen to focus financial support on providing the community with state-of-the-art technology in the library. The Foundation has purchased computers, scanners, printers and a telephone system with voicemail for the library.

Like all public institutions in our area, the Plainfield Library strives to stretch its tax dollars to cover the demands of serving a rapidly growing community. Increasing demands for additional services, computer hardware, software, equipment, materials, service hours, and competitive salaries are ongoing. Support from the Plainfield Public Library Foundation helps the Plainfield Public Library District achieve its mission.

Pennies for Libraries Program

With donation collection boxes hosted at area businesses, the Plainfield Public Library Foundation’s new capital campaign, “Pennies for Libraries” will help fund the future expansion of the Plainfield Public Library’s building.

The first businesses to host donation boxes for the “Pennies for Libraries” campaign are Gourmet Junction, GymQuest, 59 Auto Repair, Larry’s Diner and Eich’s Sporting Goods.

“We’re asking for everyone’s help,” said Library Foundation Board member Mary Ann Waldorf, owner of Gourmet Junction in downtown Plainfield.”Any donation will help and any kind of business can participate. Times are tight. We know that so we wanted to start small. Your spare change will help the entire community.”

100% of the donations received in the Pennies for Libraries campaign will be used to support the Library’s future building expansion.

The Plainfield Public Library Foundation is a volunteer based 501(c)3 charitable organization that supports the Plainfield Public Library District in its mission to Educate Captivate and Connect.
