Social Stitch: Knitting and Crocheting Time

Every Tuesday, bring your current project or get ideas from others who share the love of knitting or crocheting. No registration is needed, just drop-in between 1:00-2:30 pm. Beginners are welcome.

Sing Song and Yoga with Gina Marie

    Book Sale Donations

    The Friends’ of the Plainfield Public Library will be collecting donations for their Annual Book Sale starting Thursday, August 18th through Wednesday, August 24th. Items being collected include books (paperback, hardcover, large print, children’s), CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and vinyl records.

    Book Sale Sneak Peek & Silent Auction

    Tickets on sale now!  The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library are excited to kick-off this year’s Annual Book Sale with their inaugural Sneak Peek & Silent Auction held Wednesday, August 24th from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM at the library. This premier event will allow ticket holders the first opportunity to shop the sales’ large selection of books, movies and CDs, prior to the general public. Participants will also have the chance to partake in a silent auction which will include a number of unique and collectible items while enjoying light refreshments.

    Reminder about Sunday Hours

    The Library will not be resuming regular hours on Sundays during the school year due to budget cuts. While you will no longer be able to access the building on Sundays, you can access the Library’s website at any time. With your Library card number, you can do all of the following:
    • Download e-books and e-Audiobooks from Overdrive and Axis 360 
    • Download e-Magazines via Zinio
    • Stream or download music from Freegal
    • Investigate options for a new refrigerator via Consumer Reports online
    • Learn a new language or brush up on another language with Mango Languages
    • Take advantage of free online tutoring for students from grade school through college via Brainfuse’s HelpNow service
    • Read a Tumblebook with your child
    • And much more!

    School Supplies Drive for Del Valle Head Start

    The Library is a drop-off site for a school supplies drive for the Del Valle Head Start program, which supports education for the children of migrant farm workers in our area. Please consider donating school supplies such as pencils, dry erase markers, folders, glue sticks, scissors, pink erasers, spiral notebooks and more. Collection continues through August 31.

    Seeking Part-time Accountant

    The Library District seeks an organized, detail-oriented and independent individual to fill the position of Accountant.  As a key member of our Business Office team, the ideal candidate is an accounting professional who is fiscally responsible, capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously and works closely with management staff. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, three years progressive experience required. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft applications. Part time 16-18 hours per week, flexible schedule negotiable.  Non-exempt, $24.69 / hr.
