    Paper Recycling Bins Discontinued

The Library is discontinuing the paper recycling service that has been offered to surrouding businesses and the community. The bins were removed for several reasons:

    • The bins were there as a courtesy to the community and the surrounding businesses years ago when we realized people were using the Library's bins.
    • For the first several years the bins were available to the public, the Library made a minimal amount of money. The recycling company changed ownership, it changed its program to require a monthly fee with reimbursement per ton for the material recycled. Under this formula, there was a monthly cost to the Library rather than breaking even or generating minimal income.
    • After researching options, it was determined that there were no other companies that could provide a way for the Library to generate any income from this service.
    • The public has been abusing the recycling by leaving furniture, electronics and other non-paper items, which then costs the Library money to dispose of.
    • The Library simply can no longer afford to support this endeavor for the community with our current needs to make budget cuts.

We thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
