The Library collects DVDs for children, teens and adults. Popular films and televisions shows are organized alphabetically by title and are shelved in their own special area. For Adult DVDs, this section is on the north side of the Main Floor next to the Check Out Desk. DVDs for children and teens are located on the lower level. Non-fiction works on DVD are assigned Dewey Decimal numbers and shelved along with books on the same topic. The one exception is for the new non-fiction DVDs, which are shelved with the new popular films and television DVDs.
The Library purchases many new DVDs every month, often in multiple copies for hot new releases. Even so, it is hard to keep up with demand. The easiest way to ensure your receipt of a new release is to place it on hold. If you need assistance placing holds, please speak with a staff member.
In an effort to alert you to new DVDs, the Library produces a monthly email newsletter informing you about new DVDs. You can sign up for this online.
The new DVDs are on display and contain a hot pink label indicating their one (1) week check out limit. Signs listing the titles of new and forthcoming releases are on display in the area. Brochures with this same information are also available. Please ask for one at the Reference Desk.
This unique resource features reviews for a variety of DVDs written by Library staff members. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. If you are passionate about movies, check out this fun and informative blog!
