    Library Board Seeks Candidate for Vacancy

    The Library Board of Trustees has a vacancy for an unexpired two-year term now available for the election on the April 7, 2015 ballot. Three seats serving four-year terms on the seven member Board of Library Trustees are also available for election at that time. Nominating petition forms are available at the Library, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Completed petitions must filed between Monday, 12/15 and Monday, 12/22.

    Holiday Lights Recycling

    The Library is partnering for the third year in a row with Elgin Recycling to offer holiday lights recycling! The Holiday Lights recycling bins are located in the Library's Route 59 parking lot next to the paper recycling bins for your convenience. You can donate at any time, not just during the Library's open hours. Please do not leave lights in front of the building or in the book returns. Collection continues through February 22.

    Short Story Contest for Grades 3 to 5

    The Library is accepting entries for the Annual Short Story Contest for children in Grades 3, 4 and 5 through January 28. Click on More Info for a complete list of the rules and guidelines. On Saturday, Feburary 28 at 10:00 am, all short story contest entrants and their families are invited to a talk by contest judge, author Kevin Luthardt. Short story contest winners will be announced at the end of the program.

    Soon To Be Famous Illinois Author Project Deadline Extended

    The next Soon to be Famous Illinois Author project is seeking an Illinois author with a self-published adult fiction book that libraries can help to make “famous.” Last year's winner, Joanne Zienty, has spoken at dozens of Illinois libraries as well as given several interviews to big name newspapers, local radio stations, magazines and more.
