Social Stitch: Knitting and Crocheting Time

Every Tuesday, bring your current project or get ideas from others who share the love of knitting or crocheting. No registration is needed, just drop-in between 1:00-2:30 pm. Beginners are welcome.

Ballet 5:8 Storytime and Workshop

Tuesday, October 25

10 AM to 11 AM

A ballerina from Ballet 5:8 will read a story from a classical ballet, perform and then teach a short ballet class to your aspiring ballerinas! Children, ages 3 to 5, should wear loose fitting clothing and socks to provide freedom of movement. Please register here.

Victorian Mourning Customs

Amy Logan Author Visit

Ever wonder if you could be a superhero? Amy Logan, author of "A Girl with a Cape", shares her book that teaches children how kind words and actions can change their world. A book signing will follow the reading. Books will be available for purchase at the event. No registration required. Recommended for ages 3 to 9.

    How-To Fair: Saturday, November 12

    how to fairIn one one interactive, fun, and informative day, you can engage in over 30 free and different “how-to workshops!” Taught by local experts and business owners, learning opportunities range from home repair to fitness; from knitting to cooking; and from creating your own greeting cards to making the most of your mobile phone apps. Check out this year's exciting lineup of classes and register online! Classes will take place at three locations in downtown Plainfield: Plainfield Library, Village Hall and Plainfield Township Community Center on Des Plaines Street.

    National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)

    Write a Novel in 30 Days this Novembernanowrimo

    Aspiring novelists can take part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) at the Library this November. This Library will host two writing game sessions (with prizes) and ten independent quiet writing sessions. 

    NaNoWriMo, which begins Nov. 1, is a global event where participants set a goal to write a minimum of 50,000 words by the end of the month, making a commitment to finish the first draft of a novel. To participate, writers must register at Writers do not have to be a NaNoWriMo participant to be a part of any of the Library’s NaNoWriMo events this November.     SELF-e for Self Publishing

    SELF-eWelcome, Writers! Your Library has made the SELF-e submission platform available for our local writing community. By submitting your book here, you can share your ebook(s) with patrons of your Library and libraries throughout our state. This free service is available to all indie authors, no matter which self-publishing service(s) they use. All that is required is an engaging story and your ebook file. Sound intriguing?
