Celebrate Literacy Awareness Month

The Library is celebrating Literacy Awareness Month this September. Literacy Awareness Month is a way to showcase the importance of adult education in today’s society. The Library is seeking adult volunteers to assist others in the community who want to learn English or practice their English language skills. The Library’s English Language Learning (ELL) Coordinator Tania Hess works with volunteers to receive training through organizations like Literacy DuPage or Joliet Junior College and she will then help pair the volunteer up with one of the hundreds of adults in the community who want a free tutor.  For more information about the Plainfield Public Library and its literacy programs, visit or contact Tania Hess at or 815-263-8145.
