What's New at Your Library

Paws to Read: Summer Reading 2014

Hop on down now to the Library to register, or do so online by clicking on the logo to the right. You must have a valid Plainfield Public Library card to join the program. If you missed Registration Week, don’t worry about being in the doghouse, you can still register up until Saturday, July 19.

Over the course of this nine-week program, children, teens and adults can become top dog, earning special treats for their reading. Reading requirements for each program will be included with the registration materials.

Summer Reading Grand Finale 2014

Celebrate reading success at the Library's Grand Finale celebration taking place at the Village Green Park. There will be activities and fun for all ages: Live music, crafts, Bingo, special games and activities provided by the Park District, free treats, a bounce house and so much more!  Park at the Library and make your way over to the Village Green with special stops along the route! Rain or shine, the celebration will go on!

Tuesday Tucks Me In: The Loyal Bond Between a Soldier and His Service Dog

Library Invites Bids for Marquee Sign

The Plainfield Public Library District invites qualified contractors to bid on its marquee sign project.

A Request for Proposals is available for the design, manufacture and installation of a new marquee sign. The RFP contains specifications and guidelines to be followed and included in submission of proposals.

For the RFP, including full projects details and information, please contact Lance Agne, Head of Maintenance at 815-436-6639, Ext. 217. Bids are due to the Library’s Business Office by 5:00 pm on Monday, August 11. Contract awards will be action items on the Library Board of Trustees agenda at their regular meeting, 6:30 pm Wednesday, August 20.

Seeking Vendors for the Arts & Crafts Fair

The Friends of the Plainfield Libray will host their annual Arts and Crafts Fair on Library
grounds on Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you are interested in being a vendor, send your contact information to You will receive details and an application. Categories of sales and types of vendors are limited. If you are interested, it's best to submit your entry early.

Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale

If you’ve been waiting to clean out your closet, bookcases, basement or garage to recycle your books, cds and dvds, now is a great time to start that project. Starting August 13, the Friends of the Library will be accepting “gently-used” paperback books, hardback books, graphic novels, children’s books, over-sized books, cds and dvds for their annual book sale.
